The Great Ocean Road 7th Jan

Since first hearing about this amazing road from my sister Becky when I was 19, I had wanted to travel The Great Ocean Road! Well 21 years later we couldn't come to Australia ....especially Melbourne and not do it could we?
Wow, what an amazing journey, although Alice Robins will be very disappointed in me....once again I didn't remember her advice about the sun cream and am now sporting Panda eyes, although these are not the only bears we saw today!
The journey began with a quick goodbye to our dear friends The Coles and then off to one of the famous surfing beaches made even more famous by the film Point Break...Duuuudes!

Bells Beach, A great start to what was to become an amazing day,

Of course a road trip wouldn't be a road trip without some gratuitous shots of our 'motor' a slightly beaten up Holden Commodore Omega!

With so many amazing views we thought we should leave the pictures to do the talking...
Aireys Inlet;
Split point light house;
Back to the bears I mentioned earlier, we headed off the main highway at Kennett River up Grey River road following a tip off from The Coles in search of Koalas in the wild and we weren't disappointed;

The road then heads in land for about 60 miles taking us through some amazing rain forest. Unfortunately time was tight so we pressed on past the most famous land marks 'The Twelve Apostles' to make sure we could watch the sun set over The Southern Ocean;

The Twelve Apostles and much more to come tomorrow, the end of a great day;
