The Australian Reptile Park - 4th Jan

About 1 hours drive from Sydney, is the Australian Reptile Park.   With William and Emma's fascination with all animals in Oz that are dangerous, it seemed like the natural place to go!!  Girls in one car, boys in another we headed out in convoy on a mission to discover all things deadly and crawly!!!!  (With exception of the koalas of course!).

A rather scary demonstration of feeding the alligators....the head keeper there was harnessed to the pier following an incident a few years back where one of the bigger gaiters grabbed the meat from the stick and got his hand too.....  And then tried to drag him off the feeding platform!  Eeeeeek!!!!!

The size and power of these things, yet the way they slink through the water .... You'd certainly swim pretty quickly if you saw one coming!!!

Dingos!
The parks most famous inhabitant ... Elvis the crocodile - just celebrated his 40th birthday, and the keepers gave him a whole cow to celebrate!!  Thankfully he was still hungry enough to munch his way through a kangaroo leg in front of us ... Hmmmm yummy!
It really was a great park not too large and very hands on for the kids, so they loved it... Lots of animals wondering round as well- kangaroos, Emus, ducks & geese...
We then settled down to watch the keepers demonstrations showing some of the animals.... The guy there was brilliant, so engaging funny and passionate about the conservation work they do there.
(Koala in the background!)

We then headed back home as Alice had organised a surprise for William.
After a lovely swim  to cool down ..... It was a hot one today!  A jug of Pimms and BBQ .......

.... A surprise early birthday party for William!!!!!!!!!!!
